- Facts
Bio-Chromium tablets contain a unique, patented organic chromium yeast, ChromoPrecise™, which has been documented by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA – the European FDA) to be up to ten times more bioavailable than inorganic or synthetic chromium sources (chloride or picolinate).
In Europe, ChromoPrecise™ is the only organic chromium yeast that has been approved by the European Food Safety Authority. The chromium yeast has been tested in several published studies, and its very high level of bioavailability, purity and safety has been documented.
Each tablet of Bio-Chromium contains 100 micrograms of the essential trace mineral chromium. The chromium used in Bio-Chromium is organically bound, meaning that it is bound to yeast and natural amino acids (chromium yeast). It has an excellent bioavailability in the body ensuring that it is up to 10 times more absorbable than other approved chromium sources. Bio-Chromium is made from a patented organic source called ChromoPrecise™, which is a chromium yeast developed specifically to provide optimal bio-availability. Bio-Chromium is manufactured not only in compliance with cGMP but also according to the highest pharmaceutical standards in order to ensure excellent quality and safety with exhaustive documentation of the active ingredients.
Bio-Chromium and Yeast
ChromoPrecise does not contain live yeast cells, it contains instead a chromium-containing protein-rich powder made from yeast cells. We recommend that individuals who are allergic to yeast consult a healthcare professional before consuming ChromoPrecise™.
Chromodulin – Not GTF
For many years, it was thought that chromium was a part of a substance called GTF (Glucose Tolerance Factor). The GTF compound was believed to consist of chromium, the B vitamin niacin and the amino acids glycine, cysteine and glutamic acid. But research data only partially supported the theory of GTF chromium, and the existence of a specific GTF molecule in the body has never been proven. More recent research has, however, revealed the existence of a unique chromium-binding molecule called chromodulin, which is slightly different from GTF, but which has the same characteristics. So when we talk about chromodulin instead of GTF, we are referring to the same benefits with respect to lessening insulin resistance.
The body's chromium reserve is around 4-6 mg. As you get older, the concentration of chromium in various tissues may drop significantly. Snacking on something sweet may offer temporary relief because of the quick “sugar fix” that provides immediate energy, but the effect wears off soon after, returning you to feeling energy-deficient. In the long run, such cravings for sugary foods may have a negative effect on body weight and blood sugar stability. With a product like Bio-Chromium, you can help your body maintain normal blood sugar levels and prevent these situations from occurring.
Chromium is an essential trace mineral that contributes to a normal metabolism of carbohydrates, lipids and proteins.* This effect is useful for people who are trying to lose weight, or for people who are concerned with blood lipid levels such as cholesterol and triglycerides. In addition, chromium supports biological processes involved in regulating and maintaining normal blood sugar levels. Chromium works by supporting the action of insulin.*
Inorganically bound chromium usually has a poor bioavailability in the body. The effect of a chromium supplement is dependent upon how effectively the nutrient is absorbed in the body.
Chromium is More than One Thing
Normally, we associate chromium with the chromium-plated fixtures in bathrooms or on vehicles. The chromium form used for these purposes (industrial chromium) is not part of the human biochemistry. We need chromium in its so-called trivalent form. Trivalent means that it is able to form three chemical bonds with other atoms (industrial chromium is hexavalent, capable of forming six bonds).
Scandinavian, British and American dietary analyses show that the average chromium intake is somewhere around 30-40 mcg daily. The EFSA (the European Food Safety Authority) recommends a daily chromium intake of 40 mcg while the WHO considers chromium to be safe with intakes up to 250 mcg.
Good Natural Chromium Sources include Foods like:
- Shellfish
- Nuts
- Raisins
- Meat
- Beans
- Black pepper
Blood sugar is a common term for blood levels of glucose, which is the body’s energy source. The hormone insulin plays a crucial role in metabolizing sugar, as insulin enables sugar to enter cells. Chromium contributes to the process by enhancing the function of insulin from the inside of the cell while insulin works from the outside.
The body's normal blood sugar values are between 3 and 7 mmol/l.
If you suffer from the all-too-common candida infection, you might panic when you see that Bio-Chromium contains chromium in yeast form. There is no need to worry.
Bio-Chromium does not contain live yeast. The trace mineral chromium is produced in a natural way in a yeast culture in wich the chromium is incorporated into yeast proteins. This ensures that the chromium is organically bound and can be easily absorbed by the body. In the finished product, the yeast is completely inactive as it has been treated with ultrasound and heat and then pulverized and thus does not pose any risk regarding yeast infections.
However, individuals with yeast allergies should avoid ChromoPrecise or should consult a healthcare professional before using Bio-Chromium.
About Candida
Candida albicans is the name of a yeast fungus that lives naturally in the gut of 80% of the population without causing harm. In some cases, it can spread too much and cause a disease called candidiasis. This often happens after treatment with antibiotics, which kill the good bacteria in the gut – the bacteria that normally keep candida in check.

Up to 10 times Better Bioavailability
The bioavailability (absorption) of ChromoPreciseTM is up to 10 times better than other chromium sources, such as chromium chloride and picolinate. This has been documented by the European Food Safety Authority (European FDA) in a scientific evaluation.
ChromoPreciseTM is manufactured in an organic yeast that binds chromium to amino acids and peptides in a special fermentation process. This process improves the physiological bioavailability for human beings and also ensures a decreased toxicity compared to other chromium sources.*
